One concept of magic can be defined as observing the world's synchronicities and acting by applying one's will—manifesting archetypes identical or similar to those currently presenting themselves to intensify situations, or manifesting opposing archetypes when the magician desires to alter or bring an end to the situations at hand.
Language is responsible for synthesizing and translating the world around us through a symbolic system; this system shapes our understanding of the world based on the culture in which the language originated. A people's language is forged from the unique lived experiences of its individuals; when an individual becomes influential, they can alter the patterns adopted by the surrounding community—coining words, trivializing concepts, or even shifting reality by changing perceptions of archetypes (those higher concepts that emerge in conversation).
Archetypes are a synthesis of immutable meanings formed within the unconscious as an individual lives and accumulates experience. They guide thoughts and actions—a natural process that facilitates the efficient use of memory. In certain traditions, archetypes are regarded as Spirits or Deities, given their powerful influence on both individual and collective behavior.
Plato referred to some of these spirits as daemons in his works. According to the Corpus Hermeticum, these are specific spirits that carry out specific actions intrinsically linked to their names.
From the perspective of Aristotle—Plato’s student, though one who diverged on key points—there are three types of daemons:
Eudaemons: These are benevolent daemons that lead one toward happiness. They are nourished by sustained, focused thought and the actions associated with them; all our thoughts and actions influence the behavior of these daemons, both within the individual and in the world at large. Thus, eudaemonic actions have the power to lead the individual to a state of well-being. Engaging in eudaimonic actions serves as a form of protection, enabling the individual to attain an understanding of the Agathodaemon while shielding them from Kakodaemons.
Kakodaemons: These are malevolent daemons that lead the individual toward sadness and unhappiness, and drive people apart. When Kakodaemons are repelled by opposing actions—namely, eudaimonic ones—it becomes possible to access the Agathodaemon.
Agathodaemon: This is the personal daemon, the guide that leads the individual to the knowledge of Truth. It can only be reached and nurtured through eudaimonic actions linked to knowledge and creation. However, this occurs only when such creation and knowledge foster harmony within the individual, the world, and their own natural impulses. This is only possible when these actions are good—that is, when they do not cause physical or psychological disharmony for the individual, those around them, or nature itself.
