Studies on Initiation into the Investigation of the Mysteries

Knowledge of the divine is not easily attained; it requires a specific disposition of spirit—namely, initiation into the mysteries—to avoid disharmony within oneself or the world. While there are countless ways to acquire this knowledge, it should not be pursued out of mere curiosity or recklessness, lest it lead to physical or psychological ailments.

To avoid such ailments, deep self-knowledge and proper guidance are essential; the initiate must be warned of the risks and led along a cautious path, with negative effects remedied as they arise.

The Gods operate in a dimension Mircea Eliade termed *In Illo Tempore* in his work *The Sacred and the Profane*. They lack physical bodies yet can manifest through our actions; one way to understand them is as "bodies of ideas" that reside within our unconscious. Jung called this body of ideas an "Archetype" (a term signifying a primary or superior type or form). These forms are natural phenomena occurring both in the external world and within the individual. While these superior archetypes are not easily accessible to clear, conscious awareness, they can be glimpsed over time by effectively combining the lower forms of that superior manifestation until the archetypes themselves are understood—that is, until the Arcanum is grasped. These gods enter our consciousness when invoked or evoked (called upon); one must treat them with reverence and respect so that they may assist in our decision-making, in accordance with the specific system of initiation used to understand and access them.

An individual's spirit reveals itself to be properly inclined to comprehend specific types of manifestations that may occur when one is duly initiated and guided.
